In October of 2020, during the height of the Pandemic, there was a desperate need to share joy to others. Even though things were super difficult a few of us decided to find a way to bring music and movement to people, wherever they were! I started choreographing and my friend/college, Boyan Bonev (musician), started practicing musical pieces. We wore masks and socially distanced ourselves and put everything together in a group called Camerata South (a small group of musicians with the incorporation of some dancers). We filmed the dances I choreographed on stage, in front of an empty theater and then we filmed the musicians on stage in front of an empty theater. Then we edited our performances together and started airing shows on social media. Our shows ended up reaching people from all over the world and was a wonderful outlet for us, as well as our audience stuck at home. We were eventually picked up by PBS and had a few shows air on their website and app, under the name Thomasville Live from the Center. 

From Camerata South came so many wonderful pieces and opportunities that I (Artistic Director, Kaitlyn Sacco) decided to focus on my choreography and make my own company, Music in Motion Dance Company.

At Music in Motion Dance Company we strive to bring together interdisciplinary arts through dance and live music and share it with the community. We continue to work with Boyan and incorporate live music in our shows and performances.
